Beta- HCG Level.
Rate: Rs. 600
Sample
This test is done on the serum or urine of the patient.
Significance
1. HCG and beta-subunit of HCG can detect early pregnancy and assay for either are used in pregnancy kits.
#This is a blood test to detect beta-HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), a hormone normally produced during pregnancy and some of the cancers.
1. The intact molecule of HCG is more specific for pregnany.
#Persistence level of HCG means trophoblastic disease because in pregnancy there is rise of HCG level during first trimester and then then falls from the peak level.
If serum HCG is positive and do not have a pregnancy , means placenta not properly implanted in the uterus, then it may indicate:
1. Ectopic pregnancy
2. Miscarriage
3. Testicular cancer (in men)
4. Trophoblastic tumor
5. Hydatidiform mole
6. Ovarian cancer
This can be used as tumor marker for the placental tumors and germ cell tumor.
